As Fragile As Friendship

Jane and Kimiko were close buddies since high school.

They click very well because they have lots of things in common.

They used to hang out almost everyday and call each other everyday to talk about anything. ANYTHING.

They were so close till everyone thought they were lesbian.
Yea.. that close.

They went to the SAME college.

They also did the SAME part time job during vacation to earn money for shopping and food.

They admit they are shopaholics and foodoholics.

Trendy. Fashion. Style. Fusion. Sweet. Savoury. Spicy etc. are their asset that they can’t live for.

Well, no matter how many similarity they have, they do have difference.

Jane is rich. (Maybe her parents are rich)

She has a personal driver.

She spends on anything she wants. (Kimiko think she needs a financial assistant)

She travels to lots of places. (But Kimiko is always the lucky one who get souvenir from different places)

Kimiko is average.

She take public transport.

She only spend on things which she can afford to buy.

And the longest plane ride she have sat was 45 minutes to Kuantan?

Kimiko have been dreaming of studying overseas because she want to explore and learn the different culture in this world. She was really glad she was given the opportunity. Her parents were very supportive and decide to send her overseas to further her studies. And that was her only opportunity and the her first time abroad.

Jane has the same interest as Kimiko but due to her health problem, she has to stay for a year. Both were really upset. But they think that everyone should never give up on the opportunity available. So Kimiko decided to go alone instead.

Few days before Kimiko departure, they had a massive argument. The first time they had ever argued and even yelled each other with foul words. Miserable and unbelievable!

They never contacted each other till Kimiko returned for her summer vacation.

They bumped into each other in a mall one day when they were shopping with their new buddies.

They were shocked but both did not greet and pretend not to see each other and walk away....

Well, eventually both felt really sorry and guilty of what they have done.

(I mean it is such a silly think that they argued for stupid stuff, for god’s sake)

Jane decides to pay Kimiko a visit.

Well, she thought maybe is a good idea to bring some gift along.

(Oh well, she can get anything she want, doesn’t she? A whole shopping mall if she wants to – I guess)

After all thought of getting this or that, she finally decides to buy her a pot of money plant and some nicely packed fresh sushi.

(I know it may sound a little ridiculous, but they are Kimiko’s favourite)

Butterflies in her stomach as she knows both of them have not been talking for ages.

So Jane gathered her guts before pushing the button at the door. ‘Ding Dong’!

“Who is it?” Kimiko shouted with her baby blue towel wrapping her hair running from her room to the main door.

Kimiko was stunned for a second but still open the door to let her in. “What brings you here?” Kimiko asked. Jane was nervous at first. “I came here to ask for your apologies. We both made a mistake and I think is a misunderstanding. I brought this for you. I just hope I don’t lose you as a friend.” said Jane who was nearly in tears.

Though Kimiko did not expect this to happen, but she was actually not that angry after all.

“Are you free later? Let’s go shopping! I heard there were few new malls. I am very excited” Kimiko asked.

“Hell yea!!! Let me do your hair” Jane replied with a big silly smile on her face.

From that day onwards, they went back to their old routine again. However, there is still a slight gap between them. Well, anything can happen in a year. Both of them still manage to have their close new friends.

Gary is Kimiko new friend in Australia. He is a down to earth guy who lends his shoulder when Kimiko is down. Well, unfortunately he is attached but his partner is studying in the States. Gary visited Kimiko during summer vacation and decides to stay for two months in Malaysia. So Kimiko brings him around with Jane tagging along.

Jane thinks Gary has great sense of humour and open minded. So both of them get along very well.

Few weeks before summer vacation ends, Gary and Kimiko went out for a nice lunch at Rakuzen Restaurant. Jane was not there as she was away for a few days trip.

While they were having some green tea ice-cream for their desert, “Miko, there is something I think I have to tell you. It’s about Jane. And I think you should know this,” Gary said.

“What’s with her?” Kimiko asked.

“I am not sure whether you know this. But it is weird. She told me she was confused about herself and she find girl very attractive.” He answered.

Kimiko was stunned and nearly choked herself even with the ice-cream. “I didn’t know this at all. She never tells me anything…….”

“Yea. I felt weird because I don’t think she should be telling this to me. She also mentioned that she get turn on when she sees hot chick in the mall and even created a forum to chat with girls.” Gary said.

Kimiko felt strange. In order to prove this right, Gary showed her the forum that Jane created. It was true! Kimiko was really upset. She was upset not because she knew she maybe a lesbian. It is because she informed this to Gary instead of her. She felt cheated for all this while as she used to share every secret with Jane.

Kimiko rang Jane when she returned from her trip. She wanted to confront this to her but she was afraid to. “Guess what? One of my Aussie buddy was showing one of the forum to me yesterday. I thought I saw your nickname on it but I don’t think it’s you.” Kimiko hinted.

Jane was startled for a bit but she replied, “Nah it shouldn’t be me. I don’t chat in forums.”

“That is what I thought. It shouldn’t be you because is a lesbian forum.” Kimiko hinted again.

“Ewww… That’s disgusting. I would never do that.” Jane replied but in her mind she suspect that Kimiko knew about this.

Kimiko was so angry that she kept the phone. She was angry and upset at the same time. Gary saw what had happened and put the blame into him. But he knew he made the right decision to tell her because he did not want her to know this much later.

Kimiko was wrong about Jane. She felt cheated and betrayed. She was angry because Jane did not want to admit even if she hinted.

From that moment, Kimiko and Jane both knew they will be friends no matter what BUT will never be as close anymore. NEVER! It will probably just turn up to be a hi-bye friendship.

MORALE OF THE STORY:

Friendship is like a mug. When you argue, is like breaking the handle of the mug. But you still can use it to drink your coffee or tea.

However, when you keep a MASSIVE secret from your close friends, is like cracking the whole mug. This is because you know the mug won’t hold your coffee or tea for long. It will eventually break into pieces, sooner or later.

~THE END~

hi, I just dropped by and saw your blog. I hope that your alright there gurl! Hang on tight there!! I do sympathize both of Kimiko and Jane's friendship. I think Jane wanted to keep the secret away for some reason and she didn't want it to an obstacle for the whole friendship thing. I guess when things are meant to be kept, its good not to ask too much. Let things flow and things might be better rather than sticking a knife to answer that sensitive question and especially if your under Jane's shoe, nobody will feel comfortable even when your talking about homosexuality issues.
